Drone show for Elementary School

Visiting Pine Glen Elementary school to introduce drones to the younger children.

This is a Mambo, the drone we used at pine glen. Drones are a unman aircraft which can be control manually or by code and are used for pictures, videos and for recreational purposes.

Current Technology in Schools

Thursday November 14 students from period 5 help desk, including me went to Pine Glen Elementary school. As a young child I went to Pine Glen for my elementary school. while i was there they introduce IPads to use which was the new cool tech at the time. This day we brought drones to them. Once there I realized that the technology introduce to the student has changed quit a bit. These students were all familiar with drones and the technology to use them. Most students i met with either had a drone at home or have used one. Even though they knew the new technology they still had a great time.

At the School

When we arrive at the school we were greeted by Dan Donoff, leader of the technology department in Pine Glen. He told us we were meeting with around 60 fourth graders. he then brought us to a field neighboring the school. The fourth graders were split into smaller groups and then introduced to us. Each student of the Help Desk was in charge of a group of fourth graders. We showed them tinker, a coding app used to make a flight path for the drones. We made paths for the students, mine having many turns and flips which were requested from almost everyone. we showed them the code ad the drone but sadly we were given a short period of time and had to leave. The Fourth graders seemed to love the drone show and Pine Glen staff very thankful for it.
